Director of High School Relations

A native of Houston, Joe Alcoser begins his second season as Director of High School Relations after spending four years as Assistant Director of Football Operations. This is Alcoser's 10th year working with the Cougar football program.

Alcoser collaborates with Director of Football Operations, Colin Shillinglaw, on the day-to-day operations, academics, team travel, bowl preparations and budgeting. He also has been instrumental in the success of the UH football camps and coaching clinics. He is responsible for coordinating campus visits for prospective student-athletes, maintaining all recruiting databases and other recruiting related procedures.

Prior to his appointment to assistant director, Alcoser served as Houston's defensive graduate assistant and coached the safeties. He also served as interim director of operations in the spring of 2001 and 2002. Alcoser spent three years as a student assistant aiding with the wide receivers, running backs, linebackers, kicking specialists and special teams. Alcoser has coached wide receivers Brian Robinson and Orlando Iglesias and safety Hanik Milligan, who received various All-Conference USA accolades and was selected to the 2006 Pro Bowl.

Before joining the UH coaching staff, Alcoser played wide receiver, running back and special teams for the Cougars from 1994-96, including the inaugural Conference USA Championship team in 1996.

A three-sport, All-District selection from Reagan High School, Alcoser lettered in football, baseball and golf. Alcoser is a member of the Texas High School Coaches' Association, Hispanic Coaches Association and the American Football Coaches Association.

Alcoser received his Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration from Houston in 2001. He and wife Laura have three children: Joseph Ambrose (3), K.J. (12), and Scarlet Rose, who was born on March 2, 2007. The Alcoser family lives in the Houston Heights.
