Returning to the Cougar Football family is former standout offensive tackle David Douglas. This past spring Douglas joined Art Briles' staff as the new offensive graduate assistant. Douglas will assist Co-Offensive Coordinator Randy Clements with the offensive line. Douglas lettered four seasons on the offensive line, including the last three as a starter. A 2005 Conference USA Third-Team selection, Douglas was part of an offensive line that opened holes for a 1,000-yard rusher (Ryan Gilbert) and a 3,000-yard passer (Kevin Kolb). Douglas was a vital cog in the Cougars' offensive machine that generated over 400 yards of total offense three straight seasons. As a sophomore in 2003, the Cougar offense generated 458.31 yards and 34.5 points per game, ranking 12th and 16th, respectfully, in the nation. The offense also topped 40 points seven times, including the last three games of the year. As a high school standout, Douglas was a two-time First-Team, All-District selection at Klein Forest High School and also grabbed Second-Team, All-District honors as a sophomore. He also was selected as the Offensive Line MVP. He also threw the shot and discus for the track team Born October 4, 1982, in Houston, Texas, Douglas graduated from the University of Houston in 2006, with a bachelor's degree in communications. |
